Initiatives

The Office of the Vice-Provost, Strategic Enrolment Management leads and partners with divisions from across the University and externally on initiatives to enhance and enrich the student experience.

University of Toronto Excellence Award (UTEA)

In partnership with the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, the UTEA program was established to provide undergraduate students with funding to conduct summer research projects under the supervision of a University of Toronto faculty members.

Enrolment Services Hub

This new digital workspace, which was typically multiple paper-based processes, was implemented to improve the undergraduate student experience. This one stop web application (login required) also allows teams at Enrolment Services (Financial Aid and Awards, Admissions, Client Services), and clients and collaborators across the university to do their work in a streamlined and fully digital way.

Student Financial Aid Review

The University of Toronto financial aid programs (UTAPS) is driven by the provincial and federal government’s OSAP assessment of student costs, financial resources, and need. Changes to the OSAP program directly impact the calculations of UTAPS grants and can reduce UTAPS eligibility and/or the amount of UTAPS funding a University of Toronto student receives. The University of Toronto is actively reviewing the UTAPS program with a goal of making it more responsive to student financial need and less reliant on the OSAP need assessment.

Tech2U – Humanizing Classroom Technology Support

Informed by much of the research from the Transforming the Instructional Landscape (TIL) project and particularly the Winter 2021 pilot, the Learning Space Management and the Innovation Hub at U of T Student Life launched Tech2U, an initiative to directly support instructors by bringing the equipment and technical support to them versus what’s installed in the room. This needs-based approach is delivered through a team of technical co-pilots and work study students as classroom ambassadors creating a support network which acknowledges that individual nature of teaching and the value of humanizing support.

My Creds

MyCreds is a credential wallet and verification website created in collaboration with universities and colleges across Canada.  Led by the Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC), MyCreds is helping higher education institutions deliver digitized and portable transcripts and credentials (including badges and micro-credentials) to post-secondary learners online, anytime, anywhere. In addition to higher education institutions, MyCreds can be used by learners, employers and third parties to verify a learners credential.

Slate Implementation Project

This project revitalized and streamlined the various processes associated with undergraduate admissions. The implementation of the Slate CRM transformed how the University of Toronto recruits, assesses and admits new students.
